Hi, I'm Amanda-Ellen Erina Nicola Jojo! Welcome to my creative space..

About Me

I am a media practitioner with a special focus on journalism, freelance writing and I am still trying to find my way in the digital marketing arena. My journey in journalism began in 2019 when I enrolled in the Journalism and Communication program at Christian College of Southern Africa (CCOSA). I have been on a journey to hone my skills so that I can become a versatile journalist.

I like calling myself the VISION PUSHER because my ultimate goal is to write with fascination, problem solving thus fuelling my passion for bettering myself as well as the world around me.

I have a passion of disseminating news of the day in the interest of socio-economic privilege.

As a business editor, I am passionate about helping individuals and organizations communicate their ideas, insights, and innovations to the audience.

One of my early achievements was my role as a voluntary contributor for Focus Insider, an online business magazine, from 2020 to 2021. This opportunity allowed me to gain practical experience in business reporting and develop a strong foundation in journalism.

Late 2020 to 2021, I took a significant step forward in my career by joining BusinessMail, I worked diligently to deliver high-quality content and provide in-depth business coverage. This experience further sharpened  reporting skills and gave me exposure to a wider audience.

Building on my success, I ventured into the world of entrepreneurship journalism as a writer for The Entrepreneurial Magazine. This role not only allowed me to explore my passion for entrepreneurship but also provided me with the opportunity to take on the role of Editor. Currently, I hold the position of Editor at The Entrepreneurial Magazine, where I lead a team and oversee the publication’s content and direction.

Furthermore, I have actively engaged with a regional organization called Africa Online and Publications Library as a voluntary Public Relations Officer from 2021 to 2022.  AOPL is an afrocentric organisation that is built on the premise to increase visibility, accessibility and usage of research material across Africa.

I have also had the privilege of being part of the production team for two national television shows, The Diplomat Couch and People n Earth, on 3Ktv Zimbabwe. During that 3 months-tenure I discovered that I have strengths in coming up with concepts, script writing and coordination of programs.

Currently, I serve as a project coordinator at Atcumbre Publishers, where I am involved in managing and coordinating various publishing projects, there is nothing more inspiring than sitting down with fellow writers as they communicate their desires thus entrusting us with telling their story.

In 2023, I assumed the role of Editor for the Billions Business Magazine, where I am responsible for delivering engaging and informative content to a discerning audience. This position showcases my ability to lead and manage a publication, while consistently meeting high editorial standards.

Late last year, I joined the civil society where I am working as a communications officer.

Fellowships

I was a participant in the Pan African Business Women’s Association media fellowship on the reportage of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA). This experience provided me with valuable insights into the intricacies of the AFCFTA and its impact on African businesswomen.

Additionally, I had the privilege of being selected as one of the graduate fellows for both the African Women in Media and FOJO Media fellowship for gender and digital reporting program. This program equipped me with the necessary skills to effectively report on gender-related issues in the digital age.

Prior to these fellowships, I served as a social media volunteer at the Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development Africa. This role allowed me to develop my skills in utilizing social media platforms to challenge stereotypical narratives about Africa, and to promote a more positive and nuanced image of the continent.

Furthermore, I had the opportunity to participate in the Friedrich Naumann Foundation Africa Womentorship Fellowship, which focused on capacity building. This fellowship has been instrumental in my growth as a journalist, providing me with innovative skills that have enhanced my portfolio. Being part of the 2023 Cohort was a significant milestone in my early career, and I am grateful for the opportunity it provided for my professional development.

Certificates and awards

I have obtained a Certificate in Digital Marketing from the Digital Marketing Institute, which I acquired through the 2022 Digital Marketing Zim CSR/Giving Back program. This international certification is a testament to my knowledge and skills in the field of digital marketing. It serves as a great motivation for me to continue learning and growing in this constantly evolving industry. Through learning the combination of literary and digital marketing am on a mission to help businesses to tap into their imaginations so that they can build better brands, connect with their customers and share better stories. I believe that there is authority in your voice, your work should be influential and you deserve words magnetic enough to turn your readers into clients that you have been dreaming about.

In addition, I am a certified Wikipedia Editor, courtesy of the Wikimedia Foundation. This certification empowers me to create and edit profiles on Wikipedia and enables me to write in an encyclopedic tone, which is particularly valuable as a journalist.

Furthermore, I have completed a Certificate in Developing Internal Gender Policies under the Gender and Digital Media Reporting program, organized by the African Women in the Media and Fojo Media Institute. This enlightening learning process equipped me with the necessary skills to promote ethical, inclusive, and gender-responsive reporting on women’s issues. The course also taught me how to leverage the digital space as a media professional and utilize data to tell impactful stories.
